The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) dedicated the newest issue of the Industrial Cooperation Magazine to give details about the 14th Industrialists’ Conference “Industrial Exports: Opportunities and Challenges”. The conference is under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tareq Al Said, Adviser to His Majesty the Sultan and with the participation of ministers of industry in GCC countries and Yemen. According to the magazine, the 14th Industrialists’ Conference will be held on the 30th and 31st of March 2014; it is organised by Oman Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC), in collaboration with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development in Oman (PAIPED) and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and in coordination with the Secretariat-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Federation of GCC Chambers (FGCCC).
In his note entitled: “The 14th Industrialists’ Conference: efforts to develop a unified strategy to promote industrial exports of GCC countries and Yemen” published in the 107th issue of the magazine, GOIC Secretary General Mr. Abdulaziz Bin Hamad Al-Ageel stated: “GCC exports increased after the global economic crisis; from 726.6 billion USD in 2008 to 1061.2 billion USD in 2012 (an average annual growth rate of 10%). This growth positively impacted the value of GCC industrial exports over the five previous years (an average of 12.8%); indeed, industrial exports’ value jumped from 158.5 billion USD in 2008 to 256.4 billion USD in 2012.”

The Secretary General added: “Statistics revealed positive results regarding the value of industrial exports out of the total exports in 2012 compared to 2011. There has been an increase of 256.4 billion USD (24.16% of the total exports) compared to 225.1 billion USD in 2011 (23.66% of the total exports). This growth in the value of industrial exports undoubtedly reflects the progress of the industrial sector in GCC countries and Yemen.”
Journalist Jamal Banoun wrote an article in which he stressed “the need to reinforce communication between Gulf exporters and importers throughout the world.” According to Banoun, “exporting and importing procedures should be alleviated and customs clearance facilitated.”

Editor-in-Chief Abir Adel Jaber wrote: “GOIC is deploying relentless efforts and carrying out several activities to prepare a successful industrialists’ conference. The objective of this conference is putting out recommendations aiming at promoting the industrial sector and allowing Gulf products to reach the entire planet. Indeed, Gulf products enjoy a high quality and a competitive price, especially that GCC governments give particular attention to industrial exports, the core subject of this conference. Thus, these governments develop policies and strategies to promote and develop export sector which is the main pillar of the foreign trade system.”
Furthermore, Dr. Laila Diab Shrair, GOIC Strategic Planning Consultant, wrote an article entitled: “The role of networks of innovation centres and technological incubators in responding to the scientific innovation needs of Arab research and industrial institutions”. She highlighted the importance of spreading the culture of innovation within industrial institutions, providing adequate social environment, offering opportunities to express ideas and encouraging innovative and unconventional thinking. Dr. Shrair opined that every institution should allocate some of its budget to promote innovation and sponsor innovators, notably young men and women. She underlined the importance of a unified strategy for scientific research and development in GCC countries to help achieve industrial development and move to knowledge-based industries.
Moreover, Dr. Nuzhat Al-Hiti wrote an analytical article about industrial products competitiveness in GCC countries. The magazine included several other economic articles.
