GOIC: The 2015 Training Program focuses on the needs of industrial sector’s workers

“Occupational Safety in Firms” Workshop Concluded in Dubai

The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) concluded its 2014 training program with the workshop on “Occupational Safety in Firms” held at Warwick Hotel in Dubai, UAE from the 8th till the 11th of December 2014. The training was the result of cooperation with Global Development for Training (GDT) and was attended by specialised Gulf trainees such as supervisors, heads of departments and safety supervisors at public and private factories, corporations and firms, in addition to all parties involved in guaranteeing occupational safety in industrial facilities

GOIC Secretary General Mr. Abdulaziz Bin Hamad Al-Ageel said: “The workshops organised by GOIC under the TCD Program are part of the Organization’s relentless efforts to build industrial sector workers’ capacities in GCC countries and Yemen and achieve human development in this sector.”
The training aimed at shedding light on workplace hazards, material safety data sheets and background information necessary to guarantee safety of firms and workers.
 
Moreover, it highlighted hazards and preventive measures during working hours. It also allowed participants to acquire a set of safety skills and be up to firms’ safety requirements, in accordance with comprehensive development and healthy workplace environment standards.
 
2015 Workshops
As part of its efforts to provide training that meets GCC and Yemen industrial sector’s needs, GOIC will hold a workshop entitled “Petrochemicals: Key Issues and Strategy” in London in February 2015 in cooperation with ICIS. This training aims at supporting Gulf petrochemicals sector and deploying concerted efforts to put together an advanced Gulf petrochemicals strategy. This particular workshop targets higher administration and senior employees in the GCC industrial sector, in addition to investors and high advisers in the public and private sectors and staff close to decision making circles in petrochemicals and relevant industrial sectors.

The workshop will shed light on the Gulf petrochemicals sector and GOIC will offer an overview on these industries in the Gulf and then sessions will tackle strategic energy issues, raw materials, demand on petrochemicals and major regional issues related to oil refineries.

In addition to that, GOIC will hold a workshop on “Production Management and Quality Control for Industrial SMEs” aiming at identifying ways and means to improve the managerial skills in industrial SMEs for production management and quality control practices.
 
GOIC will hold another four-day training in May on “WTO regulations and their repercussions on the GCC industrial sector”. The main objective of this workshop is to improve the knowledge of participants on WTO regulations and their repercussions on GCC industrial and services sectors. The training will create a space for an exchange of opinions and expertise between representatives of the private sector and people in charge of institutions that operate in the area of WTO standards, regulations and mechanisms.

Furthermore, GOIC will hold a workshop entitled “Successful Implementation of Strategies through BSCs” at its headquarters in Doha in September 2015. This training aims at identifying current challenges to the implementation of strategies by learning to carry out a strategic analysis before developing institutions’ strategies (future business strategies). It also focuses on understanding the need for flexible and clear objectives to offer clear guidance to institutions and organisations. It also tackles issues related to communications with administrations, the will to change, determining key elements for a successful implementation of the strategies and reviewing balanced scorecards (BSCs).
GOIC will also organise a workshop on corrosion in oil and gas industries in cooperation with EPC in December 2015. In addition, there will be a free training for member states on macroeconomic indicators.
