RECYCLING FOR GCC INDUSTRIES

Matching recycling service with your industrial needs

GOIC, an industrial consulting services organization operating in the GCC, cooperate with GCC and international companies to provide manufacturing companies in the GCC with comprehensive recycling solutions that include the full-scale of recycling services tailored to specific industry needs.

GOIC's services include the design, deployment and support for programs that work best for industrial needs. These services also include evaluations, waste audit and recycling assessments.
GOIC aims to provide cost-effective and efficient recycling programs that meet the specific industry needs and challenges. In addition to technical support services, GOIC provides knowledge transfer and training, and other creative solutions addressing the environmental and business goals of GCC industries.

Today three of the most important challenges facing the GCC are reducing environmental burdens, creating new jobs and enhancing the resource base for the economy. Recycling can make a substantial contribution to addressing all three challenges, offering a win-win-win opportunity. There are clear opportunities to enhance recycling in the GCC and thereby GOIC finds international models such as that of the EU to be exemplary.

Such models help create a green economy by:

Supporting demand for recyclables in industry;
Ensuring that recyclable material is separated from waste for disposal and the quality of recyclables is improved because
    this increases the value of the recyclable waste material;
Improving product design to facilitate material separation;
Integrating the recycling of rare and precious metals into the existing recycling infrastructure, developing new recycling
    technologies and stimulating research on substitutes for these metals;
Phasing out landfilling for recyclable materials;
Building up recycling infrastructure and markets where they do not exist.

In the EU, the development of recycling over the last decade is an interesting example of market forces and legislative demands working together to produce positive results. Similarly, this integrated approach should be modeled within an Arab Gulf "sustainable raw material management strategies" service that GOIC will provide. GOIC aims to develop services as to encourage the development of measures that broaden the understanding of in GCC manufacturing industries the role of recycling in realizing a green economy all over the GCC.

GOIC'S SMALL & MEDIUM INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES

In addition to assisting industry and provide professional environmental and conservation consulting services, GOIC aims to promote industrial development and to encourage private small and medium-sized investors in the GCC to invest in the waste recycling business.
GOIC acknowledges that micro enterprises in the GCC aim to go into manufacturing business, and is setting up its resource to assist them in waste recycling, by practicing value-adding manufacturing to used materials by re-styling, refurbishment and renewal to a position of saleable products.

Micro enterprises in the GCC could find value in processing waste materials by using appropriate technologies to manufacture different useful products, thus converting wastes to wealth.

Within that context, GOIC's services to small and medium-sized investors in the GCC aim to create an industrial culture for the successful collection of waste thus requiring the transfer of waste to industrial facilities in order to undergo industrial processes necessary to convert the waste into useful raw material for manufacturing of new products.

Zero Waste to Landfill

Zero waste to landfill is the latest trend in recycling and corporate sustainability. Manufacturing companies around the world work hard to meet their zero waste to landfill goals and to monitor their waste reduction and prevention strategies to ensure their continued success. The advent of practices like "the greening of supply chain" to the world of manufacturing business, which involves including recycled content materials in the manufacturing process, has been helping companies in reaching sustainability goals. Moreover, developing products from recycled materials is one outcome of adapting to best management practices that small and medium-sized manufacturers use as opportunities to add value within their sustainability strategies.

How a Manufacturer can start a recycling program

GOIC has been working on setting its experts and resources to guide GCC manufacturing companies to the goal of zero waste.

GOIC's consulting toolkit:

Prepare decision packages for a company management to provide support to recycling.
Conduct a waste audit.
Find a market for recyclables.
Develop a "recycling market development program" to assist companies with recycling markets.
Educate employees.
Create a "Green Team".
Develop waste reduction and recycling goals.
Provide technical assistance for "material reuse".
Provide companies with strategies to manufacture products from recycled materials.
Provide technical assistance to companies to utilize recycling resources.
Develop awareness campaigns for companies to support recycling programs and initiatives.
Report your recycling activities.
Develop strategies to advise companies to buy recycled.
Help companies to join GOIC's "Recycling Exchange", which planned for 2015.

GOIC'S LIFE CYCLE ANALYSIS SERVICES

The recycling industry is making a substantial contribution to the improvement of our environment by cutting greenhouse gas emissions, delivering significant energy and water savings, as well as conserving non-renewable virgin resources.

Some of the greatest environmental benefits of recycling are in the conservation of energy and natural resources and the prevention of pollution when recycled material, rather than raw material, is used to make a new product. Manufacturing materials the second time around is much cleaner and less energy intensive than when using raw materials.

GOIC's Life cycle analysis (LCA) service aim to show that by substituting secondary-use materials for virgin materials the environmental benefits from the reprocessing of all recovered material would generate energy savings, prevent greenhouse gases being emitted into the atmosphere, and save water.
