GOIC signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Turkish International Cooperation Platform

The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Turkish International Cooperation Platform (ICP) to exchange expertise and cooperate in organising specialised economic conferences for five years. The MoU was signed at GOIC’s headquarters in Doha, Qatar yesterday.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by GOIC Secretary General Mr. Abdulaziz Bin Hamad Al-Ageel representing the Organization and ICP President Mr. Jenkiz Ozkenjil on behalf of the Platform. The event was attended by Mrs. Balja Kurdan Al-Ayuti, Turkish Deputy Ambassador in Doha, Dr. Afshen Hormozlo, ICP Consultative Committee Vice Chairman and Mr. Mohammed Al-Mukhaini, Assistant Secretary General at GOIC, in addition to a number of directors from the Organization.

Mr. Al-Ageel said: “The main objective of this MoU is to foster cooperation, particularly in the economic areas in light of Turkey’s unique geographic location which highly contributes in boosting gulf exports.” He added: “This cooperation will chiefly encompass international conferences and mutual investments. In fact, the Turkish experience in the different economic areas can benefit Gulf countries and Yemen, and GOIC can play a major role in this regard.”

Mr. Ozkenjil opined that Turkey and the Arabian Gulf share common grounds; he said: “We share almost more than one thousand years of history, religion and culture, yet distance set us apart in the last 60 years. Hence, it is very important to bring together decision makers from the Gulf and Turkey to develop various economic sectors. Thankfully, the first Bosphorus summit was attended by 20 countries, and the number of countries attending this event gradually increased to reach 51 countries participating at the 4th Bosphorus summit. In addition, we are expecting 70 countries to attend the next summit.”

Furthermore, Mr. Ozkenjil highlighted the Platform’s participation at the last two gatherings of the “Industrialists’ Conference”. He stated: “Our objective is to cooperate for the best of the conference and replicate the Turkish experience in the Gulf.” He hoped to see future Bosphorus summits held in the Arabian Gulf in coordination with GOIC to choose the topics, themes, panellists and participants.” Mr. Ozkenjil also hoped to extend the duration of the MoU to more than five years.

Mr. Abdulaziz Bin Hamad Al-Ageel is an honorary member of the Bosphorus summit. In this regard, GOIC started cooperating with the ICP to host the fifth Bosphorus Summit at the Four Seasons Hotel, Istanbul, Turkey in December 2014. The Summit will be entitled “Future Scenarios: Identifying Obstacles and Refining Dialogues”. Nearly 70 countries are expected to take part in this summit represented by presidents, prime ministers, officials and businessmen who will debate various political and economic topics.
