GOIC Holds Coordination Meeting to Establish the Gulf Industrial Projects Platform (GIP)
19 February 2025
Doha, Qatar – February 12, 2025
The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) held a coordination meeting for the Gulf Industrial Projects Platform (GIP), attended by representatives from the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), ministries and industry authorities, relevant government entities from GCC member states, as well as experts and technical specialists from GOIC.
The GIP project aims to enhance industrial integration among GCC countries by facilitating industrial data exchange and digital transformation through the development of a dedicated platform for Gulf industrial projects. During the meeting, participants discussed several key topics and exchanged views to help define a clear roadmap for the project.
Key Discussion Points
The meeting emphasized the necessity of establishing a unified industrial platform that serves as a centralized system for managing industrial data across GCC member states. The discussion also focused on enhancing the platform’s ability to access and analyze industrial data, which would support more effective decision-making. This will be achieved by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) for advanced search capabilities and ensuring API (Application Programming Interface) integration to enable seamless electronic data exchange.
Additionally, the participants assessed the readiness of existing applications and digital systems in member states for the new platform and identified potential challenges in data exchange. A key point of discussion was data protection and regulatory compliance, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the highest standards of governance and security. The meeting also included discussions on a proposed schedule for field visits to evaluate each country’s preparedness for the platform’s implementation.
Implementation Plan & Next Steps
The meeting resulted in the development of an implementation plan for the next phase of the project, outlining key steps:
- Establishing governance regulations for data dissemination to ensure structured and secure sharing.
- Defining API integration standards to facilitate smooth data flow.
- Conducting technical assessments in each GCC member state to ensure system compatibility.
- Developing detailed questionnaires to gather specific requirements ahead of planned field visits.
- Continuing technical studies and coordination meetings over the coming months to refine the project framework.
Commitment to Digital Industrial Growth
Participants reaffirmed the importance of collaboration in building a data-driven and technology-enabled industrial ecosystem, which will contribute to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and digital maturity in the GCC’s industrial sector. The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to ensuring the successful execution of the project according to the implementation plan.
