​The launch of the activities of a workshop to present and discuss the draft unified strategy for industrial development in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf


Today, Tuesday, the 25TH of January, a workshop was launched to present and discuss the draft unified strategy for industrial development in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, at the headquarters of the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting. The workshop is run through visual communication techniques and digital communication.

The workshop activities are organized by the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. Candidates from the General Secretariat and a number of industry sector officials in the member states, experts and technicians at the ministries of industry and trade in the six Gulf Cooperation Council states, namely: the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait, in addition to the GCC Standardization Organization and the Federation of GCC Chambers. The workshop aims to coordinate efforts and activities related to industrial development in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to discuss the draft unified strategy document for industrial development prepared by the Gulf Organization Industrial Consulting.

The assignment of the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting by the General Secretariat to update the unified industrial development strategy document coincides with the efforts of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf to develop the vision of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Fifth Decade 2022-2031, taking into account the Fourth Industrial Revolution, sustainability requirements and economic goals.

The challenges that the GCC countries have witnessed during the past two decades, especially with regard to the need to intensify efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable growth based on a diversified economic and industrial base, and to achieve the goals of sustainable development 2030, in addition to preparing the Gulf industrial sector to benefit from the technologies that emerged in the midst of the Fourth Industrial Revolution , made the GCC countries tend to develop national industrial development strategies based on future visions, some of which extend the timeframe to 2030 or 2040, making them the starting points and basic pillars of the unified strategy for the new industrial development of the GCC countries.
According to the updates made by the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting on the unified industrial development strategy document, there are five main initiatives that the council can launch to support unified industrial development:
 1- Initiatives to adopt a set of legal frameworks aimed at coordination between the GCC states to achieve joint Gulf action.
 2- Policy initiatives targeting unified industrial development.
3- Capacity building initiatives and preparing the skilled Gulf workforce in the GCC states.
4- Initiatives to update specifications, standards and technical regulations.
5- Initiatives related to laying the foundations of the common infrastructure.
