Council of Saudi Chambers
Introduction:
The
Council of Saudi Chambers is the official federation for the 26
Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the Council was
formed as per the Royal Decree no. R/6 dated 30/04/1400 Hijri
(March 1980) with its headquarter in Riyadh. Its main objective
is to observe the common interests of the Saudi Chambers,
represent them on local and international levels and assist in
the enhancement of the private sector's role in the development
of the national economy.
When the Council formed its executive arm, the General
Secretariat of the Council of Saudi Chambers, it started its
actual activities as of 1401 H (1981). Since then, the Council
took good strides towards the achievement of the objectives
assigned to it.
The key role of the Council is to serve the common interests of
the Saudi Chambers, support the development of the private
sector and enhance its role in the development of the national
economy.
The Council of Saudi Chambers is also considered as the channel
which unite the Saudi private sector trends, the management
which monitors its ambitions, and the institutional device that
intends to reach its initiatives within the framework of
national economic goals.
Council Tasks:
The Council’s functions stems from the system of Saudi Chambers
of Commerce & Industry, as imposed by the economic reality of
changes and implications affecting the present and the future of
the private sector, in the context of the targeted system, and
as dictated by the institutional work’s considerations. These
tasks could be clarified as follows:

Oversee all
private sector matters, monitor its related economic issues
and find the appropriate solutions.

Consolidate
the visions of chambers and private sector with regard to
the relevant common important issues, through stating the
unified opinion in the regulations and legislations of
economic and financial aspects, which would affect the
economic activity.
Clarify the policies, regulations and decisions taken by
official bodies in order to deliver complete and accurate
information to the chambers and its affiliates.

Support human
and financial resources capabilities of the private sector,
raise its contribution to economic activity, and develop its
performance to ensure its effective participation in the
economic and social development in the Kingdom.
Introduce and develop activities that serve the business
community, encourage and support the chambers’ capabilities
to perform such activities .

Represent
Chambers of Commerce and Industry in all relevant common
issues at both local and external levels.
Contribute to the development of the chambers’ competencies
and support the relationship with its affiliates, to ensure
raising of the private sector’s capabilities and expanding
its contributions to the national economy.

Develop the
predictions of Chambers and business sector and express them
with regard to the relevant common important issues.

Provide
information and organize periodic conferences and
specialized seminars, which combine the activities of the
private sector and the government agencies or the regional
and international economic gatherings.
Practice arbitration and settle the commercial and
industrial disputes that may arise, in case both conflict’s
parties agreed to forward it to the Council, and the
conflict is between parties that belong to more than one
chamber, or if one of the parties is a local and the other a
foreigner.
