The Industrialists’ Conference, which GOIC has initiated and
organized, is held biannually, and hosted by the GCC member states
alternately. It is considered as one of the most important
achievements of GOIC since its inception in 1976. The
Industrialists' Conference which started in Doha in 1985 has
contributed to the development of the industrial progress in the
member states at both private and public levels. Each conference
addresses a specific topic affecting the development of industry in
the region, through presentation and working papers by international
experts and specialists. The recommendations of these conferences
have contributed to formulation of industrial plans for the member
states, particularly those pertaining to the industrial development
strategy. The Industrialists’ Conference draws the attention and
concern of the decision makers and officials, in addition to a broad
spectrum of businessmen and industrialists. As part of the side
events of the Conference, an exhibition is held to introduce Gulf
industries and their achievements.
GOIC has selected the theme for the 13th, Gulf Industrialists'
Conference as the Knowledge – Based Industries and the Modern
technologies, reflecting its great importance to the GCC states,
which consider industry in general and the knowledge –base
industries in particular as a strategic option for diversification
of its economy. GCC member states can target such industries for
realization of their future vision in addition to confronting the
immediate challenges that face the industry. Those challenges are
represented in limited markets and the lack of national manpower.
