Commerce and Industry (MOCI)
The
Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) in Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia is the body which is responsible for commerce and
industry sector. Since its formation, The Ministry has been keen
to develop and expand domestic and foreign trade, to adopt
initiatives fostering the role of the private sector to allow
its effective participation in various economic booms and to
supervise chambers of commerce and industry by encouraging them
to provide the best services to the business community.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has sought
participation in developing trade relations with most of the
countries, thus ensuring the implementation of the Kingdom’s
trade and supply policies. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry
(MOCI) has proposed development of trade regulations that cope
with the requirement of trade sector, its facilities processes
and the interconnecting relations of the Saudi business
community. The Ministry endeavored and followed up the joining
of the Kingdom to the World Trade Organization WTO.
The industrial development is considered one of the strategic
goals of the economic development. Hence, The Ministry of
Commerce and Industry (MOCI) developed the industrial policy of
the Kingdom to cope with the importance of manufacturing as an
ideal alternative to expedite the realization of one of the
development objectives, which targets diversification of the
production basis, reduction of dependence on production and
export of raw oil, increasing of the role of the private sector
and its contribution to the development process, provision of
new job opportunities, development of the national manpower and
establishing a solid technical foundation.
The Kingdom have provided numerous incentives for the investors
in the field of industry, through loans, custom exemptions and
lands. Hence, industrial cities were established with complete
services in different parts of the Kingdom, in addition to the
two giant Jubail and Yanbu Industrial cities. The foreign
investment policy in the Kingdom was upgraded so as to cope with
the international economic development and to provide the
investors with many new incentives.
In continuation to the previous participations, the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia shall participate in the 13th GCC Industrialists’
Conference and the International Exibition,
