As part of ongoing cooperation and coordination related to industrial development in the GCC countries, the Executive Management of the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) held its second regular meeting of 2024 on Wednesday, September 18, in Doha, Qatar.
The meeting was chaired by H.E. Mohammed bin Hassan Al-Malki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Qatar and the current President of the Executive Management of the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting. The meeting was attended by the Undersecretaries of Industry Ministries from GCC countries, who are members of the Executive Managment of the organization, along with H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Mohammed, CEO of the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting.
The meeting addressed various agenda items, including updating the Executive Management members on the progress of coordination and cooperation with the GCC Secretariat, represented by the General Directorate of Economic and Developmental Affairs, regarding the strategic initiatives and directions of the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting. The discussions focused on projects and services provided by the organization to member states and the GCC Secretariat, in alignment with the GCC Secretariat's strategic directions. GOIC’s 2024-2028 strategy reflects global and local changes and aligns with the renewed strategic approaches in the industrial strategies of member states, the unified industrial cooperation strategy of the GCC countries, and the GCC Secretariat's strategy for the fifth decade, aiming to meet the current and future aspirations and needs of the member states. The organization's strategy emphasizes enhancing Gulf industrial integration, innovation, operational excellence, service quality, and customer satisfaction.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the joint cooperation agreement to implement the "Arab Industrial Integration Strategy" project between the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting and the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization, and Mining Organization (AIDSMO), headquartered in Morocco. This project aims to support Arab joint action and develop the industrial sector in line with global developments. The project includes providing technical support, experts, data, and statistics necessary to develop the strategy, thereby enhancing integrative partnerships between Arab countries and strengthening the connection of Arab industries with global value chains. This cooperation reflects the commitment of both parties to achieving comprehensive and sustainable economic development in Arab countries.
During the meeting, the minutes of the Executive Management’s first regular meeting of 2024 were approved, along with the approval of the 2025 estimated budget for the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting. The meeting also reviewed the report on the follow-up to the implementation of decisions from the first regular meeting of 2024, and discussed the financial status of member states' contributions to the approved 2024 budget of the organization. Additionally, the results of the follow-up on the implementation of the Industrial Cooperation Committee’s decisions from its 52nd meeting related to the organization’s work were presented, along with updates on the meeting’s agenda items.
