The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC)
was founded in 1976 by the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council
(GCC) - Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi
Arabia and the United
Arab Emirates.
The organization was conceptualized by the GCC Member States as a knowledge-hub
and industrial investment promotion catalyst, for the purpose of industrial
diversification and development within the GCC countries. It targets
developing industries throughout the region by means of providing the
public and the private industrial and economic sector with distinctive
knowledge, through a complete set of specialized research, information,
consultancy, training and technical services.
Where we Started
Since inception, the organization's advisory role was fundamental in the industrial
development of the region. Decision makers depended on the comprehensive socio-economic
data gathered and warehoused by GOIC covering all industrial activities within
the GCC member states. The organization has been playing an influential part
in identifying and introducing new industries to the region as well as determining
synergies for the existing ones. GOIC's recommendations shaped public policy
across the region, particularly the unified common industrial strategy that
was adopted by all GCC member states.
Where we are Now
At the turn of the century, global economic and social need for a greater integration
between the public and private sector took a new momentum. The need to revisit
the organization's institutional framework became an imperative in order to
ascertain the continued growth of a competitive industrial sector in the GCC
region.
The organization adopted a new direction, where considerable relevance
was to be allotted to the private sector. GOIC slanted towards a more
dynamic, market-oriented, public-private sector partnership. It now seeks
to promote its know-how and expertise gathered throughout the last three
decades to a broader array of audience and a vaster client base, thus
actively promoting industrial diversification and development within
the region.
GOIC grew to be the unrivalled source of market intelligence and knowledge
of the industrial environment within the GCC, and the advisory institution
by excellence for GCC governments, chambers of industry, private investors
and financiers across the GCC region. |
