The Industrial Technical Assistance Program (ITA), is designed to provide technical
assistance targeting the Small and Medium sized Industries (SMI) in the GCC
member countries.
The ITA Program is a
clever and in-depth review process of
the industrial establishment, carried
out by GOIC, covering the establishment's
site, facilities, services and manufacturing
operations. The purpose is to look at,
evaluate and recommend solutions aimed
towards maximizing savings and efficiency
through energy conservation, productivity
improvement, waste minimization and pollution
prevention.
SMIs in general do not
allocate sufficient resources to develop
in-house programs dedicated to assess
and implement cost reduction policies,
energy waste minimization and other comprehensive
productivity enhancement measures.
Through the ITA Program,
GOIC sought to bridge that gap. It seeks
to understand our client needs and to
identify, develop, and deliver products
and services which help meet those needs
in a cost effective manner. Furthermore,
the Program will recommend measures that
will enhance the ability to compete domestically,
regionally and internationally.
The ITA program enables SMIs and potential investors, to receive comprehensive
industrial assessments performed at low cost. It intends to: 1. Recommend
solutions to maximize profit while reducing operating costs; 2. Assist industry
to implement advanced techniques to conserve energy, minimize waste, improve
productivity thus protect the environment. 3. Provide GCC governments with
technical assistance, policy analysis and effective program management.
The ITA Program goes
through 4 phases until completion;
Phase 1: On-Site
Visit - GOIC's team of engineering experts
is dispatched to the client's site, inspects
the plant and its facilities and manufacturing
operations. The team also collects engineering
measurements and other data required for
the evaluation process.
Phase 2: Industrial
Assessment - Upon gathering the necessary
information, the team starts its assessment
process and a thorough examination of potential
savings, and subsequently identifying problems
and areas of improvement.
Phase 3: Report
- A confidential report is prepared and
sent out to the client. The report will
detail the analysis findings and recommendations,
pinpoint areas of improvements and outline
recommended solutions along with related
estimates for costs reduction, performance
enhancement and payback periods.
Phase 4: A
follow-up questionnaire is sent out to
the plant within 2- 3 months to touch base
on the progress and substantiate the implementation
of the recommendation and any possible
enhancement needed.
