Background
The Harmonized System is an international commodity classification system developed by the Customs Cooperation Council. Yet, GCC Member States have extended the international version to 8 digits for reasons relating to export and custom. Together with the above functions, this nomenclature system can also be used to classify products according to manufacturing companies, as well as raw materials used in the production process.

Workshop Objectives
Harmonized System Workshop aims to:
- Introduce the concept of Harmonized System (HS) to participants, how it is used to classify products, and its relation with other international classification systems.
- Give participants the opportunity to actually practice HS through real-life examples from GOIC databases.
- Provide participants with the terminology of some Foreign Trade Indicators, with live demonstrations via IMI portal and other databases.
