GOIC holds a workshop about the Industrial Market Intelligence Portal (IMI Plus)

A database about 14000 Gulf factories with investments up to 369 billion USD

The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) held a workshop about the IMI Plus at the Organization’s headquarters in Doha, Qatar last Thursday, September 18, 2014. The workshop was attended by several representatives from different private and public sector companies in GCC countries.
Mr. Mohammed Bin Khamis Al-Mukhaini, GOIC Assistant Secretary General for Industrial Information and Studies gave the opening speech in which he highlighted the importance of the IMI Plus, its components, characteristics and products. He stated: “This unique portal in the region includes six databases about Gulf industries, foreign trade, socio-economic indicators and investment opportunities in the Gulf. It features several search tools and a report printing option.”
Al-Mukhaini added: “GOIC deployed several successful efforts to establish and develop a comprehensive database reflecting the socio-economic environment in GCC countries. In addition, the Organization has prioritised information development and accessibility to users in light of its strong belief that information is the core catalyst of any research institution.”
Participants got to know the characteristics of the new portal and its services benefiting investors, businessmen, researches, journalists and other interested parties in the industrial sector.
The Industrial Market Intelligence Portal (IMI Plus)
The IMI Plus includes data on nearly 22000 firms in GCC countries and Yemen, including approximately 7000 licensed firms. As to the 15689 productive factories, their total investments are valued at more than 369 billion USD and they offered more than 1379257 job opportunities in 2013.
Access and registration can be easily done through the portal’s website www.imiplus.goic.org.qa. IMI Plus provides interested parties and decision makers with valuable precise and updated data and accredited governmental statistics and data about the industrial and socio-economic sectors in the region. Registered parties can access one of the most comprehensive and trusted databases in the Gulf region. The data is collected, collated and analysed by experts from the Industrial Information Department at GOIC. This database is a valuable source of information for investors, industrialists and analysts who want to carry out informed researches, product market studies and feasibility studies. Based on this database, they can also target new customers, make sound commercial decisions and seek new industrial investment opportunities since it offers approximately 350 industrial investment opportunities.
The IMI Plus provides detailed data about foreign industries and trade, and more than 400 industrial and socio-economic indicators in a matrix for the seven member states. It also allows determining the market size for a specific product, identifying commercial exchange between GCC countries and other countries all over the globe or according to country group classification and determining product export and import trends and the trade balance between any GCC country and foreign countries. Furthermore, the IMI Plus features data about imports and exports, net imports, design capacities and market size for more than 4000 goods according to the international classification in line with customs tariffs.
Moreover, the Portal allows users to identify names of factories, the size of their investments and their labour force according to the industrial activities in each country. It also includes information about the distribution of firms within the country according to industrial cities, industrial activities, design capacities of every product and every industrial activity within the country, and determining the evolution of industrial activities and analysing foreign trade data and other data.
