The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) hosted a press conference organized by Ibhar group for International Exhibitions to announce its organization of COVERTECH exhibition which is the only international exhibition specialized in the construction materials for floor and wall coating in the GCC States. The conference was held on Tuesday, June 24th 2014, at GOIC’s headquarters in Doha, in the presence of HE Mr. Abdul Aziz bin Hamad Al-Aqeel, Secretary General of GOIC, Mr. Muhammad Mukhaini, Assistant Secretary-General for the sector of information and studies, heads of departments in GOIC and representatives of the corporate sponsors of the exhibition.

HE Mr. Abdul Aziz Bin Hamad Al-Aqeel, Secretary-General of GOIC, spoke during the conference and declared that GOIC’s "Five-Year strategic objectives since 2012 have focused on supporting the activities of the private sector in the Member States. To achieve that message, and accomplish those goals, GOIC has used all available means: international conferences, regional seminars, training courses, scientific publications, and coordination meetings”. He added, "From this perspective, GOIC has been keen to support and care for specialized international fairs and events as an important tool for marketing, and one of the most successful methods of business development, especially in the field of small and medium enterprises in the Member States, and develop their international competitiveness."

 

Al-Aqeel pointed that "through GOIC’s sponsorship to COVERTECH- Qatar International Exhibition for Building Materials for floors and walls coating, GOIC hopes that the exhibition would contribute to the service of the industrial sectors in the Member States, and would help Gulf companies - especially small and medium companies - to build alliances, and sign cooperation agreements with several Arab and international institutions, in order to develop their products, and qualify for global competition in order to contribute to achieving the desired development for our peoples."

Dr. Maisar Siddiq, CEO of Ibhar International Exhibitions Group, the organizers of the exhibition, thanked GOIC for their support and sponsorship of the exhibition and for being the main sponsor, and pointed out that "the international exhibition aims to highlight the latest materials and products in the areas of coverage and cladding of facades of buildings, floors, wall paints and internal partitions, including environment-friendly and fire-resistant materials. This important sector does not receive adequate emphasis in construction material shows and therefore it becomes a necessity to have its own exhibition in order to achieve the desired marketing objectives. This is achieved by allowing leading companies to showcase their products in front of a group of distinguished and specialized visitors: consulting offices, architects, interior decorators, real estate developers, businessmen and decision-makers, both from Qatar or the GCC States, together with the introduction of the state-of-the-art technology for the supply of environment-friendly energy.”

He added that "Due to its importance, the exhibition has been given kind patronage and support from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Qatar since it coincides with the Chamber’s mission aiming at development and support of major and specialized projects in vital sectors in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. Leading companies such as Tadmur, Nabina, Qatar Manufacturing Company, Hajar Projects and Doha Astraku are also co-sponsors."

Dr. Siddiq pointed that COVERTECH QATAR, which will be in Doha during 4-6 February, 2015 comes in response to the need of the market in the Arabian Gulf region, since it is one of the projects worth more than a trillion dollars in the next five years. These projects need to have highly specialized international exhibitions aiming at providing an opportunity of cooperation between producers of modern building materials and decision-makers and those responsible for these projects.” He stressed that Ibhar Company is working to provide a high level of services for exhibitors and visitors in the Gulf States in accordance with the standards of the International Union of Exhibitions to provide a specialized exhibition that contributes to the development of the movement urbanism in Qatar and the Gulf states. He said that we aim COVERTECH to be an Arab and an international model for world trade exhibitions such as DOMOTEX in Hannover, Germany, and COVERINO exhibition in Las Vegas in the United States.

Dr Siddiq praised the efforts of Mr. Issa Bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the General Authority for Tourism, and Mr. Hamad Al-Abdan, director of exhibitions department, for supporting the development and rehabilitation of the human element in the organization of exhibitions. He pointed out that the Tourism Authority welcomes all constructive ideas that would stimulate the international exhibitions sector in Qatar, to fit with modern renaissance taking place in the country as well as the recent trend to organize exhibitions in specialized areas.

Also speaking at the press conference, Mr. Tariq Nabina, Director General of the Group of Companies of Nabina (Diamond Sponsor), which is one of the first companies in the import of construction materials in Qatar, stressed full support of his company to the exhibition since it is the first of its kind in this area, stressing that the uniqueness of the event prompted his company to fully support it.

Mr. Peter Van, business development manager of Tadmur Trade Company (Strategic Sponsor), pointed out that the exhibition will be an opportunity to learn about the latest tools in the field of global cladding of floors and walls.

Finally, Mr. Hassan Salama, Project Manager of Hajar Company, hoped that the exhibition would contribute to the development of the performance of Qatari companies to keep pace with urban development in the state, in realization of the vision of Qatar 2030 for overall development.

A discussion among the participants and journalists followed about COVERTECH exhibition, its objectives and contributions to the area, as well as the activity of GOIC in support of small and medium industries and its efforts to overcome the difficulties faced by investors in the industrial sector.
